Dilli Baarish
Delhi rains don’t make me want to wear a plain chiffon sari or a clingy polyester salwar kameez and run out of the house singing – Chup Gaye Saare Nazaarein, Oye Kya Baat Ho Gayeen..
This Rafi-Lata duet from Do Raaste is yet another favourite. I must admit, I always found Rajesh Khanna to be somewhat wimpy. I mean, who can possibly like a Punjabi boy from Amritsar? Though, I did like Ishmeet Singh. But then, he is dead.. So, back to Do Raaste, I really like Mumtaz. She was neither a behenji nor a BTM. In fact, she managed to find that middle-path. I think it was to do with her buttocks-clinging kurtas, combined with her occasional desire to show off her belly button and her rather stern and alarmingly high hair-setting. She was also one of the great actresses if you were to shoot a rain song. She was such a relief after the likes of the insipid Asha Parekh and phenomenally ugly Mala Sinha.
